Influence Of Body Position On Defecation In Humans
Abstract: This medical study compares three positions for defecation by measuring abdominal pressure and the anorectal angle simultaneously. It concludes that the greater the hip flexion achieved by squatting, the straighter the rectoanal canal will be, and accordingly, less strain will be required for defecation.

Impact Of Ethnic Habits On Defecographic Measurements
Abstract: The main goal of this study was to compare Iranian and European habits of bowel evacuation on defecographic measurements. Patients were instructed to defecate using two types of toilet: an unraised, ground-level style (common in Iran), and a bowl with attached tank style (common in Western countries). It concluded that the use of the Iranian-style toilet yielded a much wider anorectal angle, and a larger distance between the perineum and the horizontal plane of the pelvic floor than the European style. Bowel evacuation was also more complete using the Iranian-style toilet.

Comparison Of Straining During Defecation In Three Positions
Abstract: The aim of this study was to compare the straining forces applied when sitting or squatting during defecation. The study confirmed that sensation of satisfactory bowel emptying in sitting defecation posture necessitates excessive expulsive effort compared to the squatting posture.
Independent Reviews
Some people really love their Squatty Potty. We are always excited to hear great feedback from satisfied customers. Here are some reviews from some very happy Squatty Potty users!

The Paleo Mom
“This thing is ridiculously awesome. It is not natural to love a stool as much as I do, but I can’t help it. It really is more comfortable and easier to go from a squatting position. It doesn’t feel like work (and, at least for me, it used to feel like work more often than not).”

Wellness Mama
“What surprised me with the Squatty Potty was the immediate difference I noticed. The first time I used it, things moved much more quickly (there I go starting with the TMI). Within two days, this position felt so natural that it was strange to sit in the “normal position” anymore.” -
Underground Wellness
“This thing is super cool! It’s stylish. You can stow it away by sliding it under your toilet bowl.” -
Healthy Home Economist
“I was thrilled when my new Squatty Potty arrived; and wow, you could actually feel the difference immediately. You could feel it going straight down–plop! I hopped off the squatty potty and my day was good to go–woo hoo!” -
Delicious Obsessions
“The first time I used it, I expected it to feel awkward and perhaps a little uncomfortable. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the position didn’t feel awkward at all. It felt natural and very comfortable. As a matter of fact, it feels really strange to use a toilet that doesn’t have one.” -
Mother Nature Network
“I never feel bloated anymore. Literally: Never. Feel. Bloated. I might not actuallybe skinny, but I feel skinny. Simply eliminating with the help of the Squatty Potty gives you that “I just went on a 10 day juice cleanse” feeling. That is as close to publicly discussing my actual experience of pooping that I’ll get. Trust me — try it; you’ll like it.” -
Poop Report
“When the time came, I pulled the stool forward a few inches, turned around, sat on the toilet, and put my feet on the spots designate for them on the stool. This caused my knees to ride up around my chest and put me in a safe, squatting position. What happened next almost made me laugh. It was as if my butt was confused, because the sensation of pooping with a straight colon was really no sensation of all. The poop just kind of, well, came out. Plop. And that was that.”

After Years of Issues… NO MORE PROBLEMS!
Dear Squatty potty staff, my husband has had severe issues and irritation for years, many doctor visits and steroid suppositories daily. I came upon the squatty potty on the internet while doing some research. I am an RN. I bought the squatty potty and talked two other coworkers into going in with me to buy bulk for cheaper! Since my husband has been using the squatty potty he no longer has any irritation or problems. My coworkers love their squatty pottys as well and state it makes it much easier to go to the bathroom!!! Thank you.
Pregnant Lady Approved
I am about 5 months pregnant and bought this around 4 months pregnant. Before I bought it I was really struggling with pregnancy constipation and was trying every trick in the book to try and resolve it. And most things would work for a week or so, then I would become resistant to it and would have to try something else. This is the only thing that has consistently helped and that I haven’t become resistant to. It’s normalized my movements to being almost as good as before I got pregnant. Thankful for it and definitely recommend it to anyone who has sluggish, irregular or incomplete movements.
God bless you!
I want to thank you for developing the Squatty Potty. Since I was a child, I had difficulty passing my stools. As I got older, I would have to manually disimpact the rectum, and it lead to chronic, painful rectal inflammation (proctitis), severe internal and external hemorrhoids, and I was a couple of months away from having surgery to remove the rectum and to have a diverting colectomy placed. I also had to use daily suppositories, Witch Hazel soaked on the toilet paper, and twice daily Metamucil. All this time I thought my problem was related to constipation, but it was actually due to me trying to push the poop against a blocked dam. I prayed and prayed for an alternative to surgery. Then I saw you on Shark Tank. I ordered the Squatty Potty from Amazon, and have been using it for about a month, I had no idea my problem was due to the puborectalis muscle not being relaxed. Now, all my symptoms have completely resolved.
Squatty Potty convert!
My father has Parkinson’s Disease. Apparently, one of the side effects is difficulties using the bathroom. I saw the Squatty Potty in a store and bought it for my dad; it was, coincidently, his birthday that day. He didn’t think there was anything to smile about when he got a Squatty Potty for his 65th birthday . . . until about 3 hours later. About an hour after his birthday dinner, he was grinning from ear-to-ear like a kid (I can’t remember the last time I had seen such a big grin on his face). I asked him why he was so happy all of a sudden, and all he said was “It worked!” with a big grin on his face.
Thank you Squatty Potty!
I am a healthcare professional recently diagnosed with endometriosis, interstitial cystitis and pelvic floor dysfunction. My women’s health physical therapist recommended to use a box or some books to prop my feet up when going to the bathroom. I heard of the Squatty Potty through a social media support group. I was hesitant that I’d notice any difference using it. After about a month or so of using consistently, I can honestly say that I am not straining nearly as much to produce a bowel movement like I was previously. I’ve been able to use less medication for constipation so I’m thrilled, my only wish is I would have found it sooner! I love the fact that it fits under the toilet when not in use so I’m no longer tripping over a box when I’m in the bathroom.
Truly life-changing
My husband has had severe constipation for the past few years. He is in his 20th year of Parkinson’s and we are not sure if his intestines are affected by the muscle issues or if it is his medication that is causing the problem. Regardless, it has become so bad that we were honestly afraid that he would have a heart attack while trying to use the bathroom. We tried Miralax and stool softener and nothing worked. We bought a squatty potty and it was like a dream come true for him. Not only did it make it effortless for him to use the bathroom, but it was over quickly and easily.
